STOCKTON – The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation has weighed in on the race for Assembly District 13, endorsing incumbent Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman.
Eggman, whose late father was a commercial beekeeper and almond grower, was immediately appointed chair of the Assembly Committee on Agriculture upon her election in 2012.
The Farm Bureau cited as reasons for their endorsement Asm. Eggman's leadership on forming major agricultural policy, particularly her efforts to craft practical and fair dairy pricing reform, and her strong advocacy for the Delta and San Joaquin County agriculture on major water policy issues, including the water bond and groundwater management.
"Susan has proven herself a tough-minded, fair and independent legislator who works hard on behalf of San Joaquin County farmers," said Jack Hamm, president of the San Joaquin Farm Bureau. "We are proud to endorse her and look forward to working with her in the years to come."
Eggman said she was honored to have won the Farm Bureau’s endorsement.
“The Farm Bureau has been a great partner in the effort to protect San Joaquin County agriculture, water and our way-of-life in the State Legislature,” Eggman said.
The district Eggman represents, Assembly District 13, includes the cities of Stockton and Tracy and the communities of Thornton and Mountain House.
