Green economy: Stockton and the San Joaquin valley have an opportunity right now to transform our work force for the 21st century. We need education to be available and relevant-I am a part of Green edu through the Stockton Chamber where we partnered with Stockton Unified, San Joaquin County of Education and Delta to prepare a work force that can easily adapt to the growing green economy.
Health Care educations- In order to continue to attract health care jobs, we must have an educated workforce. We will need doctors, nurses as well as all the allied health care professionals. University Park in Central Stockton serves as a sterling example of a proactive vision to provide a health care education pipeline. On one site we will have a health focused high school run by SUSD, Kaiser is opening a allied health care professional training program, and CSU Stanislaus with help from Sacramento State is creating a nursing program. And on the topic of CSU, I will continue to push for the expansion of our CSU Satellite until we realize the dream of a public University right here in our community.
Agriculture: Curriculum focusing on the current market needs to be expanded and developed as it relates to all areas of agriculture. In order to stay competitive in a global market, we must have legislation that supports farming and related education as a viable future for the coming generations.
